Wave flight on 14 March 2004. Laviniu towed to just east of Rocky Reach Dam. The vertical scale on the right of the picture shows the altitude, and the color of the flight track corresponds with the altitude color on the scale. So - green is around 6000', while dark blue is over 10000'.

Laviniu describes his flight:

..."You can see where I've released, slightly more to the north and higher [released at 6500' about 2 miles east of Rocky Reach Dam] and then my zig zags that were supposed to be figure eights but somehow I ended up in being blown back from the best lift until I got into some sink then got lost and confused..

...I made a big turn and then inched my way forward and higher.

Then I got into a really good lift again way more to the north and then I went "upwind" over to the Burch mountain where I got into the rotor [lots of sink]..

and then all the way downwind to home. All the time somehow I didn't quite get the direction of the wind, it was more northerly than I thought. My technique is not good and needs lots of improvement. I found it quite difficult flying in the wave because you have to account for lots of information streams all the time: wind, your position, lift areas etc."
