~Welcome To My Office~

This is my own office where I share many things just for those are Newcomers to Medieval and Renaissance re-creation,recreation, and re-enactment. I call this my office for I have viewed floor plans for a couple of period manors and on one such floor plan there was a room labeled "chatelaine's office."

I love newcomers - they are a great source of knowledge, enthusiasm, and ideas.  I have often learned from them.

It is my wish to dedicate a good portion of this site to help newcomers become established in this hobby. Although written while still a member of the SCA, I believe that it still has some validity or value for other historical re-creation or re-enactment group and can be applied in part at least. If that, indeed, is not exactly the case I then will stand corrected.

Herein find links for advice articles that I wrote on different topics such as clothing, personas, and general stuff. A lot of the advice herein is stuff that I have learned from my many years in the SCA, useful stuff which I've gleaned from many people over the years, from my own questions asked, questions asked on other sites, from my own experience, and also from many answers asked over e-mail lists.  You will also find here some good links that are useful for a variety subjects that would be most helpful to my favorite people, newcomers.

I will try and change articles out every now and then so you might want to check back and see what's new.  The links were all good and working as of June, 2006 which was when I last checked them.  Another note - many links are SCA specific.  There are links that I acquired while I was still a member of that organization.  I believe many of the sites hold valid and good information that could be adapted or modified to the particular group or groups in which you participate.

ADVICE ~ my favorite bits that I usually give to newcomers.
